7 Reasons to Choose Intentional Living

Many of us are going along in life, rolling with the punches, and taking things as they come. That’s all well and good, but why not live intentionally instead? When you choose to live with intention, you are doing a lot of things to benefit your physical, mental, and emotional health. You’re also taking control of your life and making it everything that you want it to be. In case that’s not enough, we’ve got seven more below.

First, though, let’s talk a little more about what “intentional living” means. It’s pretty straightforward: it’s about taking ownership of your life every single day. It means to build your life around the core values that matter most to you, such as:

  • Incorporating Sunday and Wednesday church activities into your lifestyle because your religion is a core value.
  • Taking walks with your spouse and kids to enjoy healthy, unplugged family time.
  • Getting a job that allows flexibility in scheduling so that you can be there for your kids’ special events and other needs.

Your values and what matters to you in life will usually dictate what “intentional living” specifically means in your life. But why should you consider taking back control and living intentionally?

  1. You will use your time more wisely and waste less of it on things that don’t matter.
  2. You will engage more with others and enjoy those relationships more as a result.
  3. You learn to cherish the moments and embrace the hope of the future.
  4. You learn to appreciate the little things in life.
  5. You are more willing to take risks and try new things.
  6. You will start living a life of joy and satisfaction.
  7. You will have less stress, feel less burnt out, and spend less time “recovering” from the daily grind.

Of course, the list of reasons for intentional living could go on much longer. These are just some of the highlights. If you’re looking for a way to start getting more out of your life, this could be exactly what you need.

It sounds cheesy, but we truly don’t know how much time we have in this life. It’s important to live each moment with intention and make the most of it. That way, you will have no regrets, will enjoy your life, and will hopefully pass the same values and ideals onto your children so that they, too, can lead an intentional life.
