Do you often find yourself standing in your own way? Perhaps you don’t realize it, but you’re subconsciously blocking yourself from being able to achieve the things that you want in life. It’s far too common, but it’s also something that you can overcome. The first step is to be aware.
Two of the most valuable practices that help you manifest your dreams and achieve what you’ve always wanted are self-awareness and mindfulness. Being self-aware is about knowing yourself and your desires, your boundaries and limitations, and how you react to the world around you.
Mindfulness is about being present and practicing intentional living. Do things on purpose. Make decisions and act. Stop letting life “just happen” and take an active role.
Instead of creating lofty, unspecific goals, you must take a minute to sit down and think about what you really want. What is it that you want from life, more than anything else? If you want to succeed in your career, what does that mean? If it’s wealth, how much? Weight loss? What are your weight goals?
Make sure that your vision is clear and detailed. While you’re doing this, feel free to clarify obstacles or things that keep you from reaching your goals on a day-to-day basis.
Life is filled with distractions. We have an endless supply of them right in our pockets (or more often, our hands), thanks to smartphones and other electronic devices. Then there’s the world around you: family, work, bills, and the list goes on. There are so many things that can distract you from getting what you really want in life.
You must figure out how to overcome those distractions. Remove the ones that you can. Learn how to work around the ones you can’t control. Practicing mindfulness and self-awareness will also help you spend your time more intentionally and waste less on these diversions.
Achieving your goals is all about taking action and having the right mindset. Now that you’ve taken care of your mentality, you need to make a plan that includes strategies to deal with your own self-sabotage and other barriers. Then, you can focus on your priorities and start getting what you really want out of life. And isn’t that really what life is all about? Contact Mel Doerr to learn more!
