The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly changed daily life for all of us. If you are working from home, attempting to homeschool your child, heading to work to deal with sick patients or scared customers, you are probably finding it hard to manage it all.
It’s okay. You aren’t alone. We are all in this together, trying our best to keep up work and family and wellness.
If you are struggling to find positivity during these past two weeks, here are a few self-care ideas that can get you in a better state of mind.
Talk to Someone
If you are at home with your partner, you can certainly talk to them about how you are feeling. Or, you can text or call a friend instead. No matter who you choose to talk to, be sure you are doing it often. Talk about hard things and funny things and about downright weird things. You’ll feel better getting all of your thoughts off your chest and commiserating for a while.
Journal
It has never been a better time to journal. Whether you are journaling about all the changes or about your feelings or simply writing down a few things you are thankful for each day, your new journaling practice will help you process everything that is happening around you.
Feel the Feelings
You are going to experience a rollercoaster of emotions, and that is okay. Everyone is. However, you can choose to have all the feelings in a healthy way. Instead of using potentially harmful coping skills like overeating or substance abuse, choose instead to sit with your feelings and name them. You’ll find talking about how you are feeling will help you deal with it more effectively.
